SEI Selected by Sciens Alternative Investments to Provide Operational Outsourcing

SEI's Technology and Data Management Expertise Key Factors in Firm's Decision

OAKS, PA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/04/13 -- SEI (NASDAQ: SEIC) today announced that it has been selected by Sciens Alternative Investments, part of the Sciens Capital Management Group, to provide operational outsourcing services for the firm's managed account platform. Sciens sought to complement its own front-end technology and its newly released risk analytics and portfolio construction tool, S.M.A.R.T., by leveraging SEI's data management and flexible reporting technologies. The strategic partnership points to investment managers' increasing need to transform data into actionable insights that aid in decision making and risk management, while improving transparency and reporting for investors.

SEI will provide Sciens with a comprehensive suite of operational outsourcing services in a straight-through-processing environment. Additionally, SEI will provide collateral and margin management to support Sciens' middle office. SEI's technology expertise, comprehensive reporting, and global servicing locations were key reasons Sciens selected SEI.

"With the launch of the S.M.A.R.T. investor portal and the growth of the Sciens Managed Account Platform, we set out to create an enhanced experience for our investors and clients, which meant raising the bar on the level and quality of transparency and reporting we delivered. We knew that providing them with greater information and more control over their hedge fund investments was critical in the current governance-focused environment," said John Godden, Head of the Sciens Managed Account Platform. "In looking to ensure that we have the best possible service for the Platform, following a detailed selection process, we have selected SEI to provide administration and centralized collateral management services. SEI stood out for its ability to marry a cutting edge approach in how it applies technology with a very strong culture at getting the basics right. This will help to ensure the Sciens Managed Account Platform provides a high level of governance combined with speed of delivery."

"Our proven expertise in integrating multiple client and third-party systems means that we can complement Sciens' existing technology and the impressive tools they've built, while providing the additional benefits of our institutional-quality infrastructure," said Philip Masterson, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, SEI's Investment Manager Services division. "SEI's Manager Dashboard will provide Sciens with the ability to gain greater transparency into their daily activity and enhance their decision-making process. The automation and systems integration that are built into our platform also make it easier for Sciens to capture a holistic view of the business across its various investment strategies and product types. We're pleased to be working with them and look forward to enabling their growth."
